Lannie Jay Baker, 45, a loving and devoted husband, father, brother and uncle passed away unexpectedly on Friday, December 20, 2013.

He was born in Claremont, NH on November 21, 1968 and was a lifelong resident of Newport. He attended Newport High School. He joined the US Army and served in Desert Storm, he was honorably discharged. Lannie worked at Hypertherm as a machine operator on 3rd shift.

Lannie enjoyed taking his boat out on Lake Sunapee with his family and friends. He loved building things, visiting with friends and family and most of all, his wife, his three precious children and his sister Hope. He was quick witted and downright funny. He was very passionate about politics.

The family includes his loving wife, Amanda Baker; their three children, Nickolas, Hayden and Kyleigh Baker all of Newport; his sister, Jennie Lussier and her husband, Larry of Newport; his brother, Gloyd Baker and his wife, Linda of Dover, DE; his sister, Hope Martinelli and her husband, Henry of Sunapee; his sister, Nellie Poetl and her husband, Kevin of Salem; his sister, Betty Spooner and her husband, Bob of Unity; his sister, Pennie Stratten of Denver, CO and his sister, Estelle Yeo and her husband, Danny of Derry; his best friend, Wayne Rossiter of Newport of whom they have been friends for a very long time; as well as several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther Baker and Irma May Baker.

Friends and family may call at the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street in Claremont on Saturday, December 28th from 10 to 11AM.

A memorial service will be held at the funeral home at 11AM with Rev. Alice Roberts officiating.

A celebration of his life will follow at the Newport Moose Lodge.
