Myrtle G. Colburne passed away unexpectedly on April 20, 2013 at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center. She was born in Kings Sutton, England, on November 13, 1936 to Christopher and Gwenneth (Ridge) Timms. She graduated from Kings Sutton School and briefly entered the workforce before emigrating to the United States. She met her future husband, Robert Colburne, of North Reading, Massachusetts in 1960, while he was stationed in Alconbury, England, with the U.S. Air Force. They married on March 26, 1963. During his military service in the U.S. Air Force they spent many wonderful years in Japan, which they loved dearly. After his retirement in 1971 from the Air Force, they settled in Charlestown, NH, where Bob became Chief of Police. Myrtle worked at Tambrands in Claremont from 1974 to 1998 at which time she retired early to take care of her husband. She thoroughly enjoyed Bingo, watching NASCAR, gardening and her beloved cats. But most of all, she cherished her close family, particularly her niece, Elizabeth Masure, and her husband and children; Craig, Kyle, Christopher and Caitlin. Survivors include her sister, Claire Simpson, of Charlestown, NH and her husband, Derek; her stepdaughters Catherine Bishop and family of Texas, and Robena Timbello and family, of Florida and Japan; and her grandson, Robert Royce of Florida. She was predeceased by her sister, Margaret Tombs, of England, and her brother, Roy Timms of Charlestown, NH. A celebration of both of their lives will be at Charlestown Memorial Chapel, 34 Main Street, Charlestown, NH, on Saturday May 4th, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. followed by refreshments at the Charlestown Community Room. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her memory to the River Valley Animal Protection League, PO Box 860, Charlestown, NH 03603 - www.rivervalleyapl.org. |
