Samuel O. Foisy, 90, of Hanover Street in Claremont, NH died peacefully on Thursday morning, May 2, 2013 at Elm Wood Center at Claremont. He was a native and lifelong resident of Claremont born on September 18, 1922 the son of Joseph N. and Hilda E. (Clow) Foisy. Sam was a veteran of World War II having served in the US Navy. He worked for Joy Manufacturing Company as an engineer for 40 years. Sam retired in December of 1979. Sam was a former member of the American Legion Post #29, former member of Mantowa Campers Assoc., Crown Point Motorcycle Club, President of Claremont Television Assoc., former Boy Scout Leader for 22 years, Brotherhood member of Order of the Arrow, Wood Badge Award National Award, a member of the City Council from 1953 to 1955 and Ward III Moderator since 1958, Jaycee “Man of the Year” in 1972. He was the widower of Virginia F. (Guyotte) Foisy who passed away on June 25, 1990. His family includes his wife, Armene Gobin Foisy; two sons, Gary S. Foisy and Timothy A. Foisy; two daughters, Charron L. Barney and Virginia Gail Foisy; eight grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his first wife, two brothers and two sisters, one grandson and one great grandson. Visiting hours will be held on Monday evening from 6 to 8PM at the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street in Claremont. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, May 7th at 11:00AM in St. Joseph Church on Elm Street with Father George Majka officiating. Burial will follow in West Claremont Burying Grounds. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made in Sam’s memory to the St. Joseph Fuel Fund. |
