Shirley H Noyes died unexpectedly at the Cheshire Medical Center
in Keene, NH on the evening of April 2, 2013 with her husband of
nearly 50 years, Harold Marsh Noyes, at her bedside. She will
be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Shirley Evelyn Huckins Hendry Noyes was born on July 21, 1930 in
Hanover, NH to George Clifton Huckins and Hazel Williams Huckins
of Orford, NH. After graduating from Orford High School,
Shirley attended the University of New Hampshire and graduated
from Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital Nursing School as a
Registered Nurse. She was dedicated to her work and her
patients and worked at MHMH, now Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical
Center, for over 23 years.
After her retirement she became an
active member of the First United Methodist Church of Claremont,
NH. She served on the Administrative Council, on the Board of
Trustees, as a member of the Choir, also as a Liturgist, and was
Financial Secretary for ten years. She also enjoyed entertaining
family and friends at the Noyes family summer cottage at Lake
Mascoma.
She is survived by her husband Harold
and her three children: Marsha Bowen of Houston, TX,
Stephen Hendry of San Marcos, CA,
and Claire Hendry of Rancho Santa Fe, CA; step-son Steve Noyes
of Laurel, MD, sisters Helen Marsh of Fairlee, VT and Barbara
White of Tuscon, AZ; grandchildren Ryan Hendry of Cardiff, CA
and Megan Hendry of San Francisco, CA, as well as several nieces
and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
She was proceeded in death by her
first husband Marshall Neil Hendry, her parents, brothers
Clayton and Roger, sister Frances Gould, and step-son Kenneth
Noyes.
Shirley leaves behind many friends in
Claremont, NH where she and Harold resided for 47 years. They
moved to Bentley Commons in Keene, NH in 2011 where they have
made many new friends. Family and friends are invited to join
in a Memorial to celebrate Shirley's life at Bentley Commons in
Keene, NH on July 21, 2013. Proceedings will begin at 2:00 pm.
