Terry Joe Martin, 67, of Langdon, died peacefully November 28, 2013, at Cheshire Medical Center with his wife by his side.Terry was born in Missoula, Montana, October 31, 1946, son of Harold and Doris (Curtis) Martin of Montpelier, VT. He graduated from Montpelier High School in 1964 and began his career as a lineman for Green Mountain Power and then spent over 40 years as a lineman and meter reader for Granite State Electric out of North Walpole, NH.Mr. Martin survived several heart surgeries over the years but ultimately fell victim to his heart’s weakness. But those who knew Terry remember him for his big heart, one that extended a warm welcome to all that graced his presence. He was always seen with a smile and found the goodness in all that life had to offer. He was an avid outdoorsman enjoying fishing, hunting and camping. He also loved his sports and was a big fan of the New York Yankees and Giants. But more than anything, Terry was known for his commitment and love of his family.Survivors include his wife, Sharon; his four children, Kevin Martin and his wife Brenda, of Hinsdale, Keith Martin and his wife Melissa, of Cary, N.C., Tara Martin and her significant other Erik Saggerson, of Monkton, VT, and Jeremy Martin of Portsmouth, NH; three brothers, Danny Martin and his wife Sharon, of Montpelier, VT, Richie Martin and wife Phyllis, of Montpelier, VT, and Rex Martin and his wife Susie, of Boca Raton, FL.; four grandchildren, Joshua Martin, Matthew Martin, Sarah Martin, and Megan Martin; and several step children and step grandchildren.Calling hours will be held Saturday, December 7th from 1 to 3 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 3 pm at the Charlestown Memorial Chapel, 34 Main Street, Charlestown. Graveside services will follow at the Lower Langdon Cemetery in Langdon.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mr. Martin’s memory to The American Diabetes Association at www.diabetes.org.
