Theresa Amell Magoon 93, “Grammie T” of Washington, NH (formally of Claremont) passed away peacefully at Valley Regional Hospital on August 25, 2013 after a short illness. 

“Earth has lost a wonderful woman; heaven has gained a sweet angel.”

She was born in Claremont on July 15, 1920 to the late Clarence and Anna (Hurd) Amell.  She was a lifelong resident of Claremont until 2009 when she moved to Washington, NH to be near her daughter, Sheila and Roger Chicoine (who survive her). 

Theresa was employed by several shoe shops in the Claremont and Newport area, retiring in 1982.

She was predeceased by her husband, Heman Magoon in 1977, her daughter in-law, Pam Magoon in 1983 and her son, Richard Magoon in 1985.  She also was predeceased by her brother, Ken Coulombe and her 3 younger sisters, Ester (Joseph) Merrill, Hazel (Burton) Morse and Beverly (Bill) Dyes.

She is survived by eight grandsons, Roger (Angela) Chicoine of Surry, Ronald (Kathy) Chicoine of Claremont, Richard Magoon Jr. of Derry, Gregory Magoon, of Derry, Brian (Karen) Magoon, of Londonderry, Paul (Kristen) Magoon of Salem, Tobey (Kathy) Magoon of Somerswoth and Patrick Magoon.

She is survived by 16 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren, a sister in-law, Alice Coulombe Andriski and several nieces and nephews.

Theresa loved life, had a very good sense of humor, and was always seen with a smile on her face.  Her love was for family.  She will be missed by all.

Friends may call at the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street in Claremont, NH, on Thursday, August 29th from 6 to 8 PM.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, August 30th in Mountain View Cemetery in Claremont at 11 AM with Pastor Scott Kearns, officiating.
