Wilfred Albert Quimby, 77, of Strand Road in Claremont, died Thursday morning, November 14, 2013 at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon.

He was born in Newport, NH on July 11, 1936, the son of George Henry and Evelyn (St. Aubin) Quimby.

Wilfred had owned and operated several machine shops in Claremont, including Quimby Machine, Airport Machine, A & E Machine and Stacy Machine.

He enjoyed camping and family reunions and loved his cats and dogs.

The family includes his wife Ruth E. (Pierce) Quimby, whom he married on October 20, 1956; one daughter, Julie Kolvick of New Boston, NH; one sister, Violet DeRusha and her husband, Kenneth “Bud” of East Ryegate, VT; many nieces and nephews.

He was known by his former employees and their family members as “Uncle Willie” which he considered to be his extended family.

He was pre-deceased by one brother, Edwin Quimby and one sister, Helen Agan.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, November 22nd from 4-7 PM at the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street, Claremont, NH.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary Church on Saturday, November 23rd at Noon with Rev. Father Shawn M. Therrien, officiating.

Interment will follow in Hartland Village Cemetery in Hartland, VT.
