Zona Lenore Crosby, 75, of Claremont, NH passed away on Saturday, Janaury 26, 2013 at her family’s home.

She was born in Claremont, NH on July 3, 1937 the daughter of Thomas and Madeline (Shepard) Willis Sr.

Zona worked at Sunapee Shoe, Top Stone Furniture, Danfield Thread, as a self-employed Caterer, a Licensed Child Care Provider by the State of New Hampshire and a Foster Parent for over 25 years. She received an award for “Foster Parent of The Year”.

Zona’s greatest joy in life was spending time with her family especially the little ones, they always brought a smile to her face. She also helped anyone that was in need. She loved family outings and gatherings, traveling, bowling, playing cards, bingo, cooking and gardening.

The family includes three daughters, Cherie Leavitt and her husband, Scott, Donna Picard and her husband, David Fortune, and Madeline Picard and her companion, Mark Martin; one son, Robert G. Picard, Jr. and his wife, Laurie; one brother, Thomas Willis of Newport.

 Zona had two very special girls in her life that she raised as her own daughters, Angela Dufield, Janice Madeja. Her grandchildren, Matthew Greenwood, Nathan Burns, Robert G. Picard III, Christopher Picard, Benjamin Leavitt, Brooke Madeja, Racquel Madeja and Samantha Picard;  great grandchildren, Preston Sweet, Noah Greenwood, Emily Greenwood, Dant’e Picard, Makhayla Picard and Bailey Leavitt; also several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert G. Picard, Sr., one sister, Aretta Currier, one brother, Robert Willis and a great grandchild, Abby Willow Burns.

Friends and family may call at the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street in Claremont on Friday evening from 6 to 8PM.

Memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 2nd at 11:00AM in the Funeral Home with Pastor Scott Kearns, officiating.

Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery.
