Benedict “Ben” James Dolan, 62, of Marcotte Avenue in Claremont, NH passed away on Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born in Winchester, MA on September 6, 1952, the son of John Arthur and Rosemary C. (O’Neil) Dolan. Ben was a graduate of Winchester High School in the class of 1971. He attended the Tilton Academy and the University of Rhode Island. Ben was all scholastic in football, hockey & baseball. He enjoyed golfing, skiing and fishing. He was an avid Boston Fan, the Red Sox, Patriots and Bruins. He also loved spending time with his grandchildren. He was best known as the Bar Manager at Annie McCassar’s in Claremont. In most recent years he found his passion working with children and adults with special needs at HCRS of Springfield, VT. The family includes his wife of 21 years, Linda Day Dolan; her daughter, Amanda Ewell and her husband, John ; two grandchildren, Aiden and Avery Ewell who to them, Ben was affectionately known as “Doc”; his brothers and sisters, Elizabeth Dolan and her husband, David Whitham, Mary McNamara, Anne Lofredo and her husband, Joe and David Dolan; his stepmother, Janice Collins Dolan; sister-in-law, Dorothy Currier; his mother-in-law, Joyce Watters, his brothers-in-law, David Watters and Donald Watters and his wife, Julie Brown; his sister-in-law, Suzi Watters also many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, John A. Dolan, Jr., his brother-in-law, Stephen “Mac” McNamara and his father-in-law, Chester Watters. Visiting hours will be held at the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street in Claremont on Saturday, December 6th from 5 to 8PM. A celebration of life will be held at the Common Man on Sunday, December 7th at 11AM.
