Charles M. Finch, 90, of Lea Street in Claremont died on Wednesday morning, January 22, 2014.

He was born in Wellesley, MA on September 20, 1923, the son of Eugene H. and Ruth Emma (Gumb) Finch.

Charles served in the United States Marine Corp and later became a member of the 6th Marine Division Association, the Gilsum American Legion and the Charlestown VFW. 

His connection to the Passamaquoddy Tribe of Perry,Maine was very important to him and he was very active on the Powwow circuit.

Chuck was an explosives expert and had worked for several different construction companies including Brown & Root, Perini Cooperation and retired from Carl B. Thomas Construction of Spofford, NH.

He was a collector of minerals and enjoyed hunting, fishing and making Native American Jewelry.

The family includes his wife, Edith (Lindquest) Finch of Claremont whom he married on October 18, 1947; three sons, Larry Karson and his wife, Carol of Langdon NH, Fred Finch and his companion, Juanita of Dade City, FL and Robert Finch and his companion Linda of Claremont NH; two daughters, Toni Ricketts and her companion Louie of Tennyson, IN and Linda Finch-Rosado of Claremont NH; nine grandchildren, many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was pre-deceased by two brothers, Francis “Bud” Finch and Lewis Finch; four sisters, Annie Oak, Geraldine Davis, Daphne Finch and Neda Turek, and one son-in-law, Alfredo Rosado-Alvarez;

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 5th at 11AM at the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street, Claremont, NH with Priscilla Hull, officiating. Visiting hours will be held from 10AM – 11AM prior to the funeral services and a gathering at the Claremont Moose Lodge after services.

Interment will be held in the spring in Centennial Cemetery in Gilsum, NH.
