Donato “Rin” Mainolfi, 90, husband, father and friend, died on January 23, 2014 at his home on Lindy Avenue in Claremont. Rin was born in Proctor, VT on July 10, 1923, the son of James and Maria (Aurillio) Mainolfi. He was a veteran of WWII having served in the US Army. Rin was a resident of Claremont for the last 56 years where he was the owner and operator of Rin’s Chevron Station and Wrecker Service. An avid golfer and humanitarian, Rin was instrumental in the establishment and the ongoing sponsorship of Drug Abuse Resistance “DARE” programs in Claremont, NH and Proctor, VT. Rin is survived by his wife of 58 years, Elizabeth “Betty” Mainolfi; a daughter, Donna Kaufmann and her husband, Glen, of Acton, MA; a son, Dan Mainolfi, of Suffield, CT, and four grandchildren; Eric and Andrew Kaufmann and Emily and Alex Mainolfi. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street in Claremont on February 22nd from 2 PM to 4 PM.
