Dorothy “Dody” Belski, 91, of Spencer Avenue, Claremont died Tuesday morning, April 1, 2014 at her home.

She was born in Newport, NH on January 18, 1923 the daughter of Irvin and Flora (Morrill) LaClair and was a long time resident of Claremont and wintered in Myrtle Beach for over thirteen years.

Dody was a graduate of The Newport Towles School.

She was the ski coach for Stevens High School for many years.  

Dody was also an avid golfer and the golf coach for Stevens High School boys and girls teams.  She started “Dody’s Kids” at the Claremont Country Club which provided young students with free lessons and equipment.

Dody was instrumental in the opening of the Arrowhead Ski Area alongside Robert Easter.  

She married Edward Belski on January 29, 1944 and he died August 15, 2011.

The family includes one son, Thomas Belski of Newburyport, MA; one daughter, Patricia Chase and her husband, Peter of Claremont; four grandchildren, Kevin Belski of Florida, Matthew Belski of Maryland, Corey Chase of Warren, New Jersey and Rebecca Morley of Enfield, NH; seven great-grandchildren and one brother, Thomas LaClair of AZ.

She was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Belski and her sister, June C. Schweitzer.

Funeral services will be held privately.
