Dorothy H. “Dot” (Greenwood) Arel, passed away at the Sullivan County Healthcare Facility that had been her home for the past 2 years, on July 24, 2014.    

Dorothy was born in Claremont, NH on May 10, 1917 the daughter of Dennis Greenwood and Delima Audette.

She was a lifelong resident of Claremont.

In her younger years, Dorothy was employed at International Shoe Shop Co. and Adina Shoe Co.as a Top Stitcher.  She later stayed home to raise her family. She loved sewing, crocheting, gardening, shopping and traveling, but most of all, spending time with her family.

She is survived by her three daughters, Arlene White and her husband, Robert White, Jr., Janet Yurek and her husband, Theodore Yurek, Jr., and Susan Wood and her husband, Dana Wood.  Also her 7 grandchildren, Jeff White, Jason White and his wife, Nisha Shah, Heather Yurek, T.J. Yurek and his wife, Leslie, Valerie (Yurek) Rich and her husband, Joe,  Eric Bailey and Michelle Bailey. She also had 5 great-grandchilden, Briel, Senna and Caden Bailey, Ty Yurek and Rachel Rich and several nieces and nephews and a sister-in-law, Lucia Gilbert.

She was pre-deceased by her husband of 54 years, Theode H. “Ted”

Arel in 1992, her sisters, Eva Jarvis, Lena Jarvis, Yvonne Crosby and her brothers, William, Ernest, Norman, Dennis and Raymond Greenwood.

Friends and family may call at the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street in Claremont on Sunday, July 27th from 2 to 4PM.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the St. Catherine of Siena Church in Charlestown on Monday, July 28th at 10AM with Father Steven Lepine officiating.                    

Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery in Claremont
