Geraldine Alice Goodwin, 95, died peacefully on Tuesday morning, September 2, 2014 at Valley Regional Hospital in Claremont.

She was born in Springfield, MA on December 18, 1918 the daughter of Walter and Nellie (Stack) Newman.

She moved to Windsor, VT in 1948 and worked at Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co and owned and operated Union Street Market with her husband.

Geraldine served in the American Legion Axillary and volunteered at the Veterans Administration Hospital in White River JCT, VT.

She relocated to Sebastian, FL in 1977 and upon the death of her husband, she relocated to Ascutney, VT in 2000 and then to Claremont in 2006 to be near her daughter.  

Geraldine is the widow of Hugh Franklin Goodwin whom she married on January 1, 1938.

The family includes one son, Charles Goodwin and his husband, James Lehn of Claremont; one daughter, Peg Chabot and her husband, Donald of Claremont; two grandchildren, D.J. Chabot of Marshfield, MA and Michele Mitchler and her husband, Ryan of Denver, CO; four great grandchildren, Cameron Chabot and Morgan Chabot of Marshfield, MA and Maxwell Mitchler and Madison Mitchler of Denver, CO.

She is predeceased by eight brothers and two sisters.

At her request there will be no visiting hours.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, September 10th at St. Joseph Church, with Rev. Father George Majka, officiating.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to the charity of one’s choice.
