Lillian M. Putnam, 96, of Claremont, NH died on Saturday, April 5, 2014 at Woodlawn Care Center in Newport.

She was born in Claremont on May 9, 1917, the daughter of Samuel R. and Berenice O. (Webb) Putnam.

Lillian graduated from Stevens High School in the class of 1936, attended UNH for two years and graduated from Keene State College in 1941.

She retired in 1958 as a home economics teacher and had taught in Dalton, Orford and South Royalton, VT. 

Lillian was a member of the First Baptist Church, D.A.R. and the Republican Party. 

The family includes five nephews, Bill Putnam, Bern Putnam, Don Putnam, David Putnam and Stephen Putnam.

She is predeceased by her brother, Charles F. Putnam.

Graveside services will be held in West Claremont Burying Grounds on Thursday, April 10, 2014 at 11:00 AM.
