Lillian Miller, 97, of Claremont died on April 19, 2014 at the New London Hospital. Surrounded by her family, she passed away peacefully in her sleep after a brief illness. She was born in Enfield, NH on August 12, 1916, the daughter of Earle and Ethel (Sweet) Stevens. Lillian married Frank Miller on December 15, 1934. The two lived together in Enfield until Frank passed away on October 24, 1953. Shortly after the death of her husband, Lillian relocated to Claremont where she lived as a widow for sixty years. A staunch Democrat who served many presidential and congressional campaigns, Lillian spent 5 decades working in local woolen mills. In her role as union president, she was passionate about fighting for workers’ rights. Lillian was a generous soul who inspired many within her family. Throughout her life she shared a strong bond with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She leaves behind a son, David A. Miller, a sister, Hazel Brown, 5 grandchildren, 7 great-grand children, and 3 great-great-grandchildren. A private burial service will be held at Oak Grove Cemetery in Enfield, NH. The family would like to extend its deepest gratitude to those nurses who cared for Lillian at the William P. Clough Center and the New London Hospital during her final days. |
