Lynwood Miles Darling, 77, of Plainfield passed away unexpectedly on July 4, 2014. He was the son of Pearly Darling and Eunice Leona (Page) Johnson. Lynwood was born on March 3, 1937 in Groton, VT. Lynwood is predeceased by his wife, Ola Gertrude, a brother, Everett Darling, and a sister, Dora Guyer. He is survived by his son, Timothy Crotts and his wife, Deborah and their children, Stacey and Sarah Crotts; his daughter, Brenda Molloy and her husband, Brian and their children, Spenser and Jack Molloy. He is also survived by his sisters, Eleanor Barlow, Janette Davis, Alberta Keene and his brother, Melvin Darling and his wife Mary. Lynwood was an avid hunter and had a deep appreciation for the outdoors and animals. He could be seen many days cutting and stacking wood or helping a neighbor out with whatever was needed. He was a wonderful baker and was famous for his sweet desserts which many coworkers, friends and family enjoyed. He took pleasure in spending time with his grandsons teaching them how to bake and watching them play baseball and soccer. He also enjoyed watching his granddaughters play soccer and shared his many funny jokes and stories with them. He was loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed by many. Lynwood served in the Navy and was stationed on the U.S.S. Saratoga from 1955 - 1961. He worked at Cone Blanchard Machine Company for 19 years as a machinist. He was a truck driver and a security guard until he retired in 2002. Friends and family may call at the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street in Claremont on Friday, July 11, 2014 from 5 – 6 PM. A special service to celebrate his life will begin at 6:00.
