Norman Robert Ferland, 72, died on Saturday, December 13, 2014 in the arms of his son Adam and his beloved wife Rita at his home on Crescent Lake in Unity, NH, after a lengthy illness.

He was born in Claremont, NH on November 19, 1942, the son of Herve and Rose (Maurice) Ferland.

Norm had served four years in the United States Coast Guard.

He had worked construction with G2S, building and welding the water tanks in Claremont, also had worked for Nuclear Welding.  Norm had worked for Bell Mechanical where he had worked on nuclear power plants and on Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center.  He was a master craftsman of his trade of welding for the past 46 years.

Norm owned and operated Lakeside Forge & Fabrication. He had also worked on the restoration of Flying Yankee Train for a while.

He designed his home and did a lot of metal and iron work inside his home, he loved his home on Crescent Lake, that was where he was the happiest and showed it off as much as he could.  He will be greatly missed by all.

His grandchildren are the best a man could have, he loved them dearly.

The family includes his wife, Rita (DeCelle) Ferland, whom he married on April 2, 1966; three sons, Norman R. Ferland, II and his wife, Elizabeth of Ravenwood, WV, Anthony  Ferland and his wife, Faris of Bridgeport, CT and Adam Ferland, Sr., of Claremont; his beloved grandchildren, Jake Ferland of Ravenwood, WV, Victoria Ferland of Georgetown, KY, Alexis Ferland, Eden Ferland, Adam “AJ” Ferland, Jr, Noah Ferland all of Claremont; three sisters, Theresa Lessard, Germaine Cook and Mary Ferland; one brother, Robert Ferland and numerous nieces and nephews who loved him.

He was pre-deceased by one son; Matthew Eric Ferland; three brothers, Maurice Ferland, Paul Ferland and Roger Ferland; two nephews, Paul Ferland and Bernie Reynolds; one niece, Rosanna Ferland.

Visiting hours will be held Friday, December 19th from 5-8 PM at the Stringer Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11:00 AM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Ascutney, VT with Bishop Bernie Ferland, officiating

Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery in Claremont with full military honors.
