Patricia A. Brown, 85, of Claremont died peacefully on April 8, 2014 at Valley Regional Hospital, with her son and granddaughters by her side after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. 

She was born in Brattleboro, VT on May 14, 1928, the daughter of James A. and Mary Elizabeth (Ryan) McGrail.

Patricia married Elliot R. Brown on April 28, 1947 in Portsmouth, where he was stationed in the US Navy, he died on May 13, 1996.

They lived most of their years on Bible Hill in Claremont.

She was an amazingly patient, generous and caring women.  She was an outstanding cook always willing to care and cook for others.  She shared a strong bond with her son Elliot, who was dedicated to caring for her.  She was faithful to the Catholic Church never missing mass or saying the rosary. 

Patricia was very proud of her Irish heritage.

In her later years she loved going to the adult day out program in Newport.

She was an amazing mother and loved to read, rock and care for her grandchildren.

The family includes one daughter, Bonita “Bonnie” and her husband, Dan Fink of Elliot, ME; their children Jimmy and Barbara Fink of VA and their children, Patrick and Kelly Fink also of VA and their children; one son, Elliot W. Brown, Sr. and his ex-wife, Jane Stansbery of Claremont, their children Courtney (Brown) Parizo her children Lexi and Amelia Parizo and Miranda Dunn all of Claremont, Elliot W. Brown, Jr.  and his finacee, Rachel Jackson of Charlestown and Kaitlyn Brown of Claremont.

She is predeceased by her youngest son, John C. Brown and all eight of her siblings.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at noon on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at St. Mary Church with Rev. Father Shawn M. Therrien, officiating.

Visiting hours will be held one hour prior from 10:30-11:30 AM at the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street, Claremont, NH.

Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the staff at Valley Regional Hospital for being great to Patricia during her long term stay.
