Rena Marie LaBerge, 89, of Borough Road in Charlestown, passed away Saturday, morning, July 12, 2014 at her home. She was born in Woodstock, VT on November 28, 1924, the daughter of Elmer and Gertrude (Eaton) Still. Rena was a 1942 graduate of Woodstock High School, Woodstock VT She had worked as a waitress at the Chimes, Duck Inn, Young’s Diner and the Indian Shutters Restaurant. Rena was also the co-owner of the Westminster Restaurant. Rena was the secretary of Sugar River Grange in Charlestown, and the AARP tax aide local coordinator for many years. She enjoyed walking every day, tending to her flower and vegetable gardens, cooking, spending time with her grandchildren, dogs, cats and watching the birds. She is the widow of Victor F.J. Pearce, Sr. and Donald L. LaBerge. The family includes three sons, Victor F.J. Pearce, Jr., and his wife, Teresa of Brownsville, ME, Donald E. Pearce and his wife, Belinda of Georgia, Darby E. LaBerge of Charlestown; three daughters, Gladys Marie Pearce McDonald of Stephen City, VA, Gale Rena Pearce Gantt of Chester, VT and Janet L. LaBerge and her partner Anne Stanton; seven grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews & cousins. She was predeceased by one son, Ernest G. Pearce and one daughter, Harriett I. Courtemanche. Visiting hours will be held at the Charlestown Memorial Chapel, 34 Main Street, Charlestown on Thursday, July 17th from 9-11 AM. Funeral services will be held at the Chapel at 11AM, with Rev. Susan Grant Rosen, Pastor of the Charlestown Congregational Church. A reception will be held in the Pine Room at the Charlestown Congregational Church following the funeral service. Burial will be held in Oakland Cemetery in Springfield, VT at 1:30 PM. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that donations may be made in her memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, NH Office, 5 Bedford Farms Drive #201, Bedford, NH 03110. |
