Carol Jean McKenzie, 77, of 67 Maple Avenue, Claremont, passed away on February 11, 2015 at the Valley Regional Hospital.

She was born in St. Albans, VT on December 28, 1937 the daughter of James H. and Ruth (Beauregard) Stacy.

Carol was a graduate of St. Mary High School.

She had worked for the New England Telephone Company for several years, McKenzie Rentals as a bookkeeper and later at Hannaford from the time they opened until retiring in 2011.

She enjoyed Bingo and was a member of the Sewing Club.

Carol’s most important job to her was being a mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

The family includes one son, Jack “Jake” McKenzie, Jr. and his companion, Jana Barry of Claremont; three daughters, Catherine (McKenzie) Hilgendorf and her husband, Greg of Barre, VT, Karen Brock and her husband, Norris of Tunbridge, VT and Gail McKenzie and her companion, Bart Dole of Cornish Flat, NH; one grandson, Christopher Brock; two granddaughters, Kimberly (Brock) Bradley and Lucy Rose Hilgendorf; four great grandchildren, Hope Marie Brock, Forrest Brock, Andrew Bradley and Kasey Bradley; her former husband, Jack J. McKenzie, Sr. of Claremont; one brother, Harry Stacy of Newport; two sisters, Martha Sampson of Newport and Joan Stacy of Canaan; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was pre-deceased by one daughter, Kim Marie McKenzie and one sister, Mary Schafer.

A graveside memorial service will be held on May 16th at 1PM in St. Mary Cemetery.
