Helen Ruth Denning, 97, formerly of 64 Howard Street in Burlington, VT
until her move to Barnes Street in Claremont to be closer to family,
died on Sunday evening, June 21, 2015 at the Sullivan County Healthcare
in Unity, NH.
She was born in Highgate Springs, VT on January 8, 1918 the daughter of
Robert and Florence (Lambert) Denning.
Ruth was a graduate of Rice Memorial High School in Burlington. She
worked as a receptionist for Blodgett Oven working there for over 30
years and retiring around 1984.
Ruth enjoyed cooking, sewing, playing cards, dancing, music and she
never refused a glass of wine. She was wonderful with children and
animals. They were always drawn to her. She loved her family and was a
great caregiver.
The family includes her nieces and nephews, Geraldine White and her
husband, Donald of Claremont, Jacqueline Stebbins and her husband,
Rodney of Tilton, Robert Barrette and his wife, Patricia of Unity,
Richard Barrette of Claremont, Ronald Barrette and his wife, Mary of SC,
Lawrence Barrette and his wife, Patricia of Unity, William Barrette and
his wife, Rachel of Claremont, Joan Kasaras and her husband, Charles of
Claremont, Jean Barrette of Claremont, Robert Denning and his wife,
Pauline of AZ, Debra (Denning) Johnson of CA and Robert Denning of
Burlington; also many great nieces and nephews and her caring and close
friend, Terry Newman.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Doris Barrette and
her husband, Drayton; her brothers, William Denning and his wife,
Barbara and James Denning and his wife, Lorraine, her aunt, Cora
Lambert, her nephew, David Denning, her niece, Linda Denning and a great
great niece, Shawna Barrette Palmer.
Visiting hours will be held at the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad
Street in Claremont on Thursday evening June 25th from 6 to
8PM.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at the Christ the King Church,
136 Locust Street in Burlington on Friday, June 26th at 1PM.
Burial will follow in the Resurrection Park Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the staff of Sullivan County Healthcare
for the excellent care that they gave Ruth while she was there.
