Lucia Read, 63, of Charlestown, NH, passed away March 20, 2015 at home with her family at her bedside after a sudden and brief struggle with pancreatic cancer.

Lucia was born in Hackensack, NJ to Nicholas and Mildred Pollotta on October 12, 1951. She always led a rich and active life. In many different ways her life involved communication. She worked in the publishing industry for 45 years and rose to be the editorial director for a scientific publisher. But she much preferred working as a freelance editor at home in the beautiful woods. She enjoyed metaphysics, science & space, reading, writing her novel, her beloved cats (especially certain little black and white Irish one), spending time with her family and friends, and relaxing on the river with Michael. Lucia had an intense love of Ireland and felt its spirit deeply.

Although a very private person, Lucia was a life-long believer in service and reached out to others in many ways. With a profound connection to spirituality and the cycle of life and death, she was a hospice volunteer, and a gifted psychic medium and tarot card reader. She knew she was helping people on the other side as well as on this plane. She was the co-creator of the Third Eye Show and an animal shelter volunteer for many years. She touched many people’s lives with her gentle wisdom and insight.

Lucia is survived by her husband (& best friend) Michael; son Peter of Sussex, NJ; daughter Dana of Keene, NH; four grandchildren: Cole, Hailey, Nicholas, and Declan; nephew Matthew; her dear loving cousins; and special friends. Besides being a wonderful and loving wife, mother, and grandmother, she was our friend as well.

Lucia is predeceased by her parents, Nicholas and Mildred and her brother, Nicholas, Jr.

Visitation will be held at Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street in Claremont, NH on Tuesday, March 24th from 5:00 to 7:00 pm.
