Mildred M. (Mid) Davison, 90, passed away after a long illness on April 26th at her home in Cornish New Hampshire.  She was born on July 7, 1924 in Fair Haven Mass.  Mid lived in Port Huron from 1950 to 1980.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Dr.  William T. (Bill) Davison.  She completed her training as a Registered Nurse at Boston General Hospital in 1944.

Mid was very active in the Port Huron area in many civic and medical activities.  In 1980, Michigan State Extension Service awarded her the Silver Salute Award for excellence in leadership to strengthen families and communities.  She was a quiet leader and innovator.  She took specialized training in Boston, and brought that back to Port Huron to set up the coronary care unit at Mercy Hospital.  She received an award from the American Heart Association for her work with the coronary care unit and the blood pressure clinic she set up through United Way. Mid was committed to quality health care for low-income people.  She was active in the Mercy Hospital Auxiliary.  She served on the Board of Director’s of the United Way of St Clair County.  Mid served as a Girl Scout leader.  She was an active member of Grace Episcopal Church in Port Huron.  Mid and Bill enjoyed both the Formal Dance Club and Assembly Dance Club.  Mid was well known for her hospitality and gourmet cooking.

After moving to New Hampshire, she began painting water colors and oils.  Water colors were her forte.  She participated in many juried art shows in New England.  She was selected as one of three artists from New England to exhibit at the Millennial Exhibit at the Boston Museum of Art.   Mid was a founding member and president of ILIAD, a life-long learning program, at Dartmouth College.  Typical of her community involvement, she and Bill served as volunteers with the Cornish Fire Rescue Squad.

Mid is survived by her four children:  Jane (Robert) Diehl, of Port Huron Michigan, Atala Davison and Alice Davison of Cornish New Hampshire, and William (Jane) Davison of Pompano Beach Florida, four grandchildren: Heather C. Diehl of San Antonio, TX, Atala Diehl-Moore of Charleston, SC, Christopher Cook of Westmont, NJ and Daniel Cook of South Windsor CT, and four great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be planned at a later date.  Memorials may be made to the Visiting Nurses and Hospice of Vermont and New Hampshire, or the Mercy Hospital Foundation for the People’s Clinic, Port Huron.
