Richard Dick A. Baril, 77, lost his valiant two year fight with cancer, and passed away with family at his side, on Thursday, February 5, 2015 at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon NH.  He was born January 16, 1938 in Claremont, NH.  The youngest of six children to William and Agnes (LeRoux) Baril.  He attended Claremont schools, and was a 1956 graduate of Stevens High School.  He married Barbara M. Bean of Cornish, NH in 1960 and was predeceased by her in 1981.  He was also predeceased by siblings Doris Johnson, William Baril, Earl Baril, Ruth Dalrymple and Robert Baril.  He is survived by his two loving children Michele L. Daigle and her husband Scott, of Grantham NH, and his son Richard W. Baril and his wife Denise, of North Haverhill, NH.  He is also survived by his partner and companion, Nancy J. Nadeau of Meriden, NH, and many caring nieces and nephews.

A proud and loving grandfather, a real bright spot in his life was his six grandchildren.  Noah, Tristian and Carson Baril of North Haverhill, NH.  Matthew Daigle of Lebanon NH, Meghan Daigle of Dover, NH, and Kristen Daigle of Grantham, NH.

He worked for many years at Dulacs Building and Hardware Supply in Lebanon, NH. and also managed Gerrity Building Supply in Claremont, NH.  Later in life he earned his degree in Paralegal Studies from Hesser College of Manchester, NH.

He loved lifes simple pleasures.  He was at his happiest in the outdoors, close to nature and wildlife.  His life interests included camping, boating, fishing, gardening, hunting, music and playing guitar, working with his hands, politics and history, and Patriots football.  He was a living example of the New Hampshire Yankee way of life.  He was a steadfast advocate for American rights and freedoms, and voiced great concern for both.

For him a drive down an old country road or a walk by a lake or through the woods was a vacation. But in recent years feeding, videotaping and being close to the deer and wildlife around his home, brought him his greatest pleasure.  He saw life and beauty in nature, and in the hearts of those he cared about, and enjoyed being a part of both. Attending and participating in his grandchildrens many sports, activities and life events meant a great deal to him.  He was deeply saddened his illness was bringing that to an end.  Lifelong memories of family and good times was his legacy, and a lifetime with him would not have been long enough. His presence in our lives will be greatly missed.
