Roland N. Lessard, 88, of Claremont, NH died on Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at
the Sullivan County Healthcare in Unity, NH.
He was born in Augusta, Maine on September 15, 1926 the son of Archie
and Blanche (Cabana) Lessard.
Roland was a 1944 graduate of St. Mary High School where he was the
President of his class.
After graduation he joined the US Army and had served in Japan during
WWII.
Upon returning from military he worked various jobs until starting at
Joy Manufacturing where he had worked for over 30 years and retired in
1978.
After his retirement from Joy, Roland had worked at Marro’s Home Center.
He and Sadie then started spending winters in Florida, playing golf and
enjoying the warm weather. In 2006, they returned to NH permanently.
He enjoyed playing golf and in his early years, he made a hole in one on
the Wee Drop Hole.
Many Friday Nights he would play cards with his brother in law, Jim
Gaspardino and his nephew, Brian.
At midnight everyone would have pizza from Tony’s Pizza.
Roland married Sadie Ann Maiola in September of 1947 and she died on
August 17, 2010.
The family includes his son, Mike Lessard and his wife, Marty of
Charlestown, their daughter, Michelle Tanguay and her husband, Bill and
their daughters, Morgan and Rhiley; his daughter, Sherie Stariknok and
her husband, Carl of Springfield, VT, their two daughters, Jodie
Stariknok and her children, Britian, Jarquis and Jasanah, and Jami
Marshall and her husband, Alex and their children, Garrett and Zela; his
son, Roland Lessard of Claremont and his children, Megan Vaughn and her
husband, Dan and Matthew Lessard and his son, Brodie; his brother,
Raymond Lessard of Vera Beach, FL and his sister, Rita Hardy of Port ST.
Lucie, FL also an ex daughter-in-law, Stephanie Lessard and many nieces
and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sadie and his brother, Richard
Lessard in 2010.
Friends and family may call at the Funeral Home from 10 to 11AM prior to
the service.
Funeral services will be held at the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad
Street in Claremont on Tuesday, May 26th at 11AM with Rev.
Father Shawn Therrien officiating. Burial will follow in St Mary
Cemetery. |
