Viola Cornelia Horton, 105, died December 14, 2014 in Crescent City, Florida.

She was born in Lempster, NH on Feb. 14, 1909, the daughter of Clarence and Pearl (Evarts) Davis.  She lived in Fremont, Wilton and Charlestown, NH and Panama City and Crescent City, FL.

Viola graduated from Keene State Teachers College with a Bachelors in Education Degree in 1929 and taught school for 36 years. She taught in Lempster, North Charlestown and Charlestown retiring in 1971.

She was a member of Mizpah-Eunice Alstead Lodge #30 Order of Eastern Star, Charter member of the Charlestown Garden Club, Friends of the Library, member of Sullivan County, the New Hampshire and the National Retired Teachers Associations.

She was predeceased by her husband, William F. Horton whom she married on April 1, 1932 and he died Feb. 28, 1995; her son, William F. Horton, Jr.; a sister, Nellie Bassett and brother, Willis Davis.  She is survived by a daughter, Fay (Horton) Sydney and her husband, Paul of Crescent City, FL and a son, Stanley K. Horton and his wife, Shirley of Panama City, FL; nine grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.

There are no visiting hours. A graveside memorial service will be held Saturday, June 6th at 1PM in Pine Crest Cemetery with Rev. Susan Grant Rosen, Pastor of the Charlestown Congregational Church, officiating.  Donations may be made to the Scholarship Fund of the Charlestown Congregational Church or the Home Health Care and Community Services of Charlestown.
