Gloria J. Leighton, 54, passed away at her home surrounded by her loving
family on June 17, 2005 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Weymouth, MA on September 22, 1950, she was the daughter of Alfred
A. and Cynthia M. (Lovell) Ayotte.  She was a long time resident of Newport
and a former employee of Sturm Ruger.

Mrs. Leighton was once a member of the Women of the Moose.  She enjoyed
camping, dancing, needlework, fishing and was ever so proud of her beautiful
annual morning glories.

Gloria was the most thoughtful and kindest mother to many as well as a
devoted grandmother to her three grandchildren.

Surviving family includes her son, Brian Leighton and her daughter, Lisa
Leighton both of Newport; three grandchildren, Robert B. Leighton, Brianna
T. Leighton and Benjamin A. Leighton;  one sister, Diane Gillenwalters of
Delanson, NY; three brothers, Howard Sampson of Goshen, Wayne Ayotte of
Litchfield and Thomas Ayotte of Newport Richey, FL; also aunts, uncles,
nieces, nephews and cousins.

Gloria was preceded in death by her beloved husband Robert A. Leighton whom she married on Feb. 14, 1975 and died April 15, 1995.  Also pre-deceased by one brother, Robert "Butch" Sampson, Jr.

A memorial gathering will be held Saturday, June 25th at Eleven O'clock at
Our Fathers House Ministries, 223 North Main Street in Newport, NH.
