Lorena Edna Giles, 87, formerly of Hanover Street in Claremont, died Friday morning, April 8, 2005 at the Cedar Hill Nursing Home in Windsor, VT. She was born in North Hatley, P.Q. Canada on April 8, 1918 the daughter of Alphonse H. and Valerie (Bourque) LaTulippe and had resided in Claremont most of her life.
She was a graduate of Stevens High School in the Class of 1936.
Mrs. Giles worked as a waitress for several area restaurants including Cote’s Restaurant on lower Main Street for twenty-six years.
She was a communicant of St Mary’s Church, a member of the Cenacle, a member of Court Virgil H. Barber #892 Catholic Daughters of the Americas and the Ste Anne Society.
She was the widow of Lester O. Giles whom she married on November 14, 1936. He died October 26, 1998.
The surviving family includes four sons, Robert A. Giles and his wife, Marilyn of Kennebunk, ME, Richard A. Giles and his wife, Margaret of Scarborough, ME, Ronald L. Giles and Dale A. Giles and his wife Vivian all of Claremont; eight grandchildren, Gwenn Hoyt, Scott Giles, Kelly Stuart, Jon Giles, Patrick Giles, Craig Giles, Scott Spaulding and Kamilla Spaulding; seven great-grandchildren, Meghan Giles, Erin Giles, Alexander Giles, Mitchel Giles, Olivia Giles, Noah Spaulding and Gabriel Spaulding also nieces and nephews.
She was pre-deceased by two brothers, Raymond LaTulippe and Arthur LaTulippe.
Friends may call at the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street on Sunday evening from five to eight o’clock.
Members of the Catholic Daughters and Ste Anne Society are asked to meet at the Funeral Home on Sunday evening at seven o’clock for a prayer service.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday morning, April 11th at Eleven o’clock in St Mary’s Church with Rev. Father Shawn M. Therrien, Pastor, officiating.
Interment will follow in St Mary’s Cemetery.
