Maureen Elizabeth Rowell, 63, of Michael Avenue in Charlestown, NH, died Wednesday morning, March 1, 2006 at the Springfield Hospital in Springfield, VT. She was born in Cornwall, NY on September 21, 1942 the daughter of John and Helen (Leahy) Fitzpatrick. She had resided in Charlestown for the past thirty-six years and had previously lived in Ithaca, NY and Newburgh, NY. Maureen retired in 1991 from the Charlestown School System where she taught mostly sixth grade for twenty-one years and had previously taught at Sacred Heart School in Ithaca, NY for one year and in Newburgh, NY for three years. She loved to travel and go out to eat and also enjoyed doing catering. Maureen was a very generous person and would always lend a helping hand to whoever needed help. She was a member of the Moose and Elks Lodge of Springfield, VT and a communicant of St Catherine of Siena Church in Charlestown. The surviving family includes two sons, Steven Rowell of Charlestown and Kevin Rowell of Concord; one brother, John Fitzpatrick of NJ; one sister-in-law, Carol Fitzpatrick of NJ and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was pre-deceased by one brother, Thomas Fitzpatrick in 2004. Friends may call at the Charlestown Memorial Chapel, 34 Main Street in Charlestown on Friday evening from 6 to 8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday afternoon, March 4th at One-Thirty in St Catherine of Siena Church with Rev. Father Michael E. Gendron, Pastor, officiating. Interment will be at a later date in Pine Crest Cemetery. The family suggest that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Springfield Hospital Cancer Clinic, 25 Ridgewood Road, Springfield, VT 05156. |
