Dr. Wesley Evan Linquist, 79, of the Peachblow Apartments on the Old
Claremont Road in Charlestown, died Monday morning, July 9, 2007 at his home
with his family.

He was born in Jamestown, NY on February 7, 1928 the son of Edward R. and
Emma Sophia (Bloomquist) Linquist and had resided in Charlestown for the
past twenty-four years.

He graduated from Celoron High School in Celoron, NY in 1946 and served
three years in the US Air Force.

He attended Utah State College and Iowa State College for his pre-veterinary
and graduated in 1957 from New York State Veterinary College at Cornell
University with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree.

He did private practice in Buffalo, NY for one year then worked for the New
York State Mastitis Control Program at Cornell University.  He was
supervising veterinarian of the program when he retired in 1983.  He did
consulting work in Mastitis Control in New Hampshire and Vermont for three
years.  He was a past member of the New Hampshire Dairy Practice Committee
and Vermont Mastitis Committee.

While in Charlestown he was a volunteer at the elementary school in the
reading program, delivered Meals on Wheels for many years and was active in
the Association for Developmental Disabilities.  He enjoyed reading, was
crazy about his grandchildren, and was a member of the Charlestown
Congregational Church and served as moderator for several years.

The surviving family includes his wife, Genevieve L. (Hanson) Linquist of
Charlestown whom he married on September 1, 1951; three daughters, Kristine
Stagg of Portland, ME, Terry Mellin of Kinderhook, NY and Lorraine Linquist
of Claremont; two sons, David Linquist of Summerville, SC and Mark Linquist
of Sterling, VA; seven grandchildren; one brother, Edward Linquist of
California; several nieces and nephews including a niece, Kimberly Dion of
Saco, ME.   He was pre-deceased by a sister, Jeanne Linquist and two
brothers, Milton Linquist and Donald Linquist.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, July 18th at Eleven O'clock in
the Charlestown Congregational Church with Rev. Malcolm Grobe, Pastor
officiating.  Interment will be later in August in Sunset Hill Cemetery in
Lakewood, NY.

The Stringer's Charlestown Memorial Chapel, 34 Main Street in Charlestown is
in charge of arrangements.
