Audrey Elaine Gibbs, 87, of Cemetery Road in Ascutney, VT, died Wednesday morning, June 1, 2005 at the Mt Ascutney Hospital and Health Center in Windsor, VT. She was born in Ocean Grove, NJ on March 11, 1918 the daughter of William Duncan and Violet (Kornhoff) Gillan and had resided in Ascutney, VT since 1974. She graduated from Philadelphia School of Bible and graduated from Neptune Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Neptune, NJ where she received her Registered Nurse Degree. Mrs. Gibbs worked as a surgical nurse at Valley Regional Hospital for ten years and retired in 1982 and also worked with her late husband, Rev. Norman Wesley Gibbs, Jr., whom she married on Nov. 27, 1948, former Pastor of the Church of the Open Bible in Ascutney, VT for twenty-one years. He died July 8, 1995. She enjoyed reading the Bible, singing and music. The surviving family includes one son, Norman Paul Gibbs, Sr. and his wife, Cindy of Burke, VA; one daughter, Ruth Elaine Millett and her husband, Douglas of Ascutney, VT; four grandchildren, Joanna N. Peel, Heather E. Straker, Norman P. Gibbs, Jr., and Adam M. Gibbs; one great-grandson, Brandon Straker; two brothers, William Gillan of Neptune, NJ and Dan Gillan of Mahwah, NJ; also nieces, nephews and cousins. She was pre-deceased by four sisters, Eleanor, Micky, Alberta and Jean. Funeral services will be held Saturday morning, June 4th at Ten-Thirty in the Church of the Open Bible in Ascutney, VT with Pastor Forest Page, officiating. Interment will follow in Ascutneyville Cemetery in Ascutney, VT. A time of fellowship and sharing will be held at the Church Hall after the committal services at the cemetery.
