Betsey H. Zerba, 91, of North Street in Claremont, died Tuesday morning,
September 6, 2005 at the Mount Ascutney Hospital and Health Center in
Windsor, VT. She was born in New Haven, CT on October 8, 1913 the daughter
of Philip R. and Mabel (Smith) Haubrich and resided in Claremont nearly all
her life.  She was a graduate of Stevens High School in the Class of 1931
and graduated as a registered nurse from Mary Hitchcock School of Nursing.
Mrs. Zerba was a nurse at the South Weymouth Hospital for a short time and
later at the Claremont General Hospital for many years and retired in 1978
from the Claremont Visiting Nurses Association where she worked for thirty
years.

Betsey was a community worker, volunteer and fund raiser for Cystic Fibrosis
Association, American Cancer Society and Toys For Tots Program.  She loved
her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed
traveling. She was a member of the Mary Hitchcock Nursing Alumni.

She was the widow of John P. Zerba whom she married on April 26, 1941 and he died January 7, 1992.

The surviving family includes three sons, John M. Zerba and his wife, Carol
of Lindenhurst, IL, David R. Zerba of Boston and Claremont and Donald F.
Zerba of Naples, FL; one daughter, Betsey A. Scott and her husband, Gordon
of Westford, MA; three grandchildren, Scott Zerba and his wife, Kerrie, Alex
Scott and Julianne Scott; two great-grandchildren, Spencer Zerba and Jackson
Zerba also nieces and nephews.

She was pre-deceased by two brothers, William Haubrich and Howard Haubrich.

Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon, September 9th at One-Thirty
at the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street in Claremont with Rev. Kelly
E. Kirby, Rector, officiating.  Interment will follow in Union Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Funeral Home on Friday afternoon from 12 noon to
1:30 prior to the services.
