Bryant Baxter Burrows, Jr., 77, of Schmitt Street in Claremont, died Tuesday
evening, January 9, 2007 at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in
Lebanon.
He was born in Greenfield, MA on April 23, 1929 the son of Bryant B. and
Hazel (Shaw) Burrows and had resided in Claremont since 1956.
He graduated from high school from Powers Institute in Bernardston, MA where
he played baseball, basketball and football. He loved sports and enjoyed
playing with his kids in the yard after work. He also enjoyed traveling
around NH, MA, VT, NY and Canada with his wife and was a great Red Sox Fan.
One thing that he also wanted to be in life, that he didn't do, was to be a
chicken farmer.
Mr. Burrows retired in 1995 from Holson-Burns Photo Co. where he worked in
shipping and had previously worked at Holsum Bakery Company. He started out
working in a gas station in Greenfield, MA after the Navy where he served
during the Korean Conflict and later worked for the Merriam Company driving
truck in Greenfield and came to Claremont in 1956 and became the Manager of
the Merriam-Graves Company in Claremont.
The family includes his wife, Lourene (Lyons) Burrows of Claremont whom he
married on March 29, 1953; two daughters, Wanda Jeanne Magoon and her
husband, Iver of Claremont and Paula Jeanne Burrows of Weare; three sons,
Kenneth Gene Burrows and his wife, Joy and Tracy Gene Burrows and his wife,
Cathy all of Claremont and Gary Gene Burrows of Odenton, MD; ten
grandchildren; six sisters, Marion Olson of Bernardston, MA, Doris Beeman of
Holland, MA, Lucy Beeman of Brookfield, MA, Eda Jeanne Woods of Palmer. MA,
Ethel Dubias of Miller Falls, MA and Edith Flynn of Fairfield Heights, Ill
and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may call at the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street in Claremont
on Saturday from 12 noon to 2 PM.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday afternoon at Two O'clock at the
Funeral Home with Pastor Walter Dryer, former pastor of the Calvary Baptist
Church in Claremont, officiating.
The family suggest that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his
memory to the Norris Cotton Cancer Center, One Medical Center Drive,
Lebanon, NH 03756-0001 or the charity of ones choice.
