Carl Selkirk Guild, Jr., 82, of Winter Street in Claremont, died Thursday
evening, February 1, 2007 at the Springfield Health and Rehab Center in
Springfield, VT surrounded by his family.

He was born in Claremont, NH on February 24, 1924 the son of Carl S. and
Velma H. (Power) Guild.  He resided in Claremont nearly all his life and in
Ascutney, VT from 1966 to 1989.

He was a graduate of Stevens High School in the Class of 1943.

Mr. Guild retired from the Central Vermont Public Service Company in 1988
where he worked for thirty-two years as a Power Station Operator.

He was a communicant of the Union Episcopal Church, a member of the Vestry,
a Sunday school teacher and a member of the Union Church Cemetery Board, a
member of the Masonic Lodge #9 since 1959 and the Odd Fellows Lodge where he
held various officers in both organizations, also a member of the
Connecticut River Grange #518 of Ascutney and a member of the Rebekah Lodge.
Carl was a former member of the Eastern Star, a former 4-H Leader in
Sullivan County for many years and a former member of Rolling Wheels Sams,
Good Sam Camping Association.

He enjoyed woodworking, making cabinets and furniture and he built his own
home and helped with his daughter'       s home.  He also loved hunting,
fishing and camping.

The surviving family includes his wife, Carrie Augusta (Spaulding) Guild of
Claremont whom he married on March 6, 1953; one daughter, Cindy Fitzgibbons
and her husband, Raymond; two grandchildren, Jeremy Fitzgibbons and Julie
Fitzgibbons all of Cavendish, VT; also two nephews.

He was pre-deceased by one sister, Mary Ellen Andrews.

Friends may call at the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street in Claremont
on Sunday afternoon from 1 to 3 PM.

The Sullivan Odd Fellows Lodge #12 will conduct a service Sunday afternoon
at 1:30 and Hiram Lodge #9 of the Masons will conduct their service
immediately following.

Funeral services will be held Monday, February 5th at One-Thirty O'clock in
the Funeral Home, with Pastor Abraham Gross, officiating.

Interment will follow in the West Claremont Burial Grounds in Union
Cemetery.

The family suggests that donations be made in his memory to the Sullivan Odd
