Cecile M. Hardy, 82, of Marquis Avenue in Claremont, died Monday evening,
August 1, 2005 at the Valley Regional Hospital.

She was a native and life long resident of Claremont, NH, born on November
11, 1922, the daughter of Joseph and Delima (Parent) Hamel.  She attended
St. Mary's schools and married George P. Hardy on November 4, 1939.  She not only constantly supported and encouraged her husband in his endeavors but she worked as a bookkeeper and secretary for Hardy Brothers Home Builders for 40 years.  Her attention to detail and organization made her and her
work a perfect match.  She was a former member of Court Virgil H. Barber
#892 Catholic Daughters of the Americas, the St. Anne Society and the
Claremont Emblem Club.  Like her husband she enjoyed playing tennis.  For
many years, they traveled to Arizona for a few weeks each winter to play
tennis and enjoy the company of friends they had met there.  She had an
impeccable taste for beauty and it showed in the beautiful home she created
for her family - a home which was not only beautiful materially but which
was truly a home for her husband and son and friends who visited.  Her
hospitality made every visitor feel at home.  She made the Christmas and
Thanksgiving holidays very special events by her cooking, her decorations
and her loving kindness.  She was indeed an amazing woman of many talents
and a wonderful smile.  She was an exceptional wife and mother.  Over the
years she studied and painted cutting boards with designs which brightened
any home.  Moreover, her personally designed and hand made Christmas
decorations were prized by those to whom she gave them.  She loved the
challenge of word puzzles and was an avid reader.  She will be deeply missed
by those whose lives she touched.  The family includes her husband, George
P. Hardy of Claremont; one son, Professor Richard P. Hardy of San Francisco,
CA; one adopted grandson, Sophal Hardy Cheam and two great-grandchildren
all of Ottawa, Ontario Canada; one sister, Evelyn Leach of New Boston, NH;
one brother, Roger Hamel of Claremont and several nieces and nephews.  She
was preceded in death by one brother, Albert Hamel.
