Chester H, Magoon, 81, of Twistback Road, Claremont, died Tuesday morning, October 4, 2005, at Valley Regional Hospital. He was born in Grafton, NH on November 4, 1923, the son of Walter and Rena (Craig) Magoon. Chester was employed at Cone Automatic in Windsor, VT as a carpenter. In the mid 60's, he and his wife owned and operated C &R Market in Cornish Flat, NH. He was an avid gardener, enjoyed woodworking, traveling and spending his winters, for thirty plus years, in Florida. The family includes his wife Ruby V. (Flanders) Magoon whom he married October 13, 1943. Two Sons, Russell Magoon of Claremont and Robert Magoon of North Thetford, VT. Two daughters, Nancy Carver of Claremont and Jean Gross of Windsor, VT. Nine grandchildren and twenty-one great grandchildren. One sister Ann Remick of Canaan,NH. He was pre-deceased by a grandson Jeffrey Balch. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 8, at Eleven O'clock at the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street, Claremont, with Rev. Margaret Long, Pastor of The First United Methodist Church officiating. Friends may call Friday evening, October 7, from 6 to 8. Burial will be held privately in the Wells Cemetery in Canaan, NH.
