Daniel William Wilson, Sr., 82, formerly of Railroad Street in Charlestown,
died Thursday morning, September 13, 2007 at the home of his daughter on
Marcy Avenue, after a brief illness. He was born in South Charlestown, NH
on March 17, 1925 the son of Clifford Victor and Marion (Bryant) Wilson. He
had resided in Charlestown for the past 8 ˝ years and previously lived in
So. Acworth for 15 years and in Langdon for 24 years.
Dan enjoyed spending time with his family and also enjoyed hunting,
gardening and agriculture. Dan attended Charlestown schools.
He worked for the New Hampshire Department of Public Works on the highway
crew for 24 years and retired in 1984 and had previously worked for the
Boston & Maine Railroad for ten years.
He was a member of the N.R.A..
He was the widower of Ruth Irene (Wheeler) Wilson whom he married on April
25, 1946 and she died, July 29, 2000.
The surviving family includes two sons, Daniel William Wilson, Jr. and his
wife, Georgia of Buckfield, ME and Robert Stanley Wilson of Charlestown;
two daughters, Pauline Ruth King and her husband, Robert and Amy Irene
Benware and her husband, Everett all of Charlestown; five grandchildren,
Nicole Leonard, Shelly King, Sean Flynn, Marc White and Ryan Root; seven
great-grandchildren, Alanna Stevens, Sadie Stevens, Layton Stevens, Mason
Leonard, Brandon Leonard, Sierra White and Shayla White; a sister-in-law,
Sylvia Wilson and nieces and nephews.
He was pre-deceased besides his wife, one daughter, Sharon Wilson King; one
sister, Pauline R. Wilson and one brother, Melvin M. Wilson.
Graveside committal services will be held Saturday morning, Sept. 22nd at
Eleven O’clock in Pine Crest Cemetery in Charlestown with Rev. Canon Marthe
F. Dyner, Rector of St Luke’s Episcopal Church, officiating.
The Stringer’s Charlestown Memorial Chapel, 34 Main Street, Charlestown is
in charge of arrangements.
The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his
memory to Hospice and Community Services, Inc., P.O. Box 564, Keene, NH
03431.
