Doris Lanissa Johnson, 71, of Fitch Manor, died Sunday morning, June 10,
2007 at the Haven Health Center of Claremont. She was born in Charlestown,
NH on March 5, 1936 the daughter of C. Richard and Lorna (Bullard) Potter
and had resided in Claremont most of her life.
She attended the Farwell School in North Charlestown, graduated from the
Charlestown High School and also graduated from North Hampton Commercial
College.
Doris married Hal Johnson on April 1, 1974 and together they owned and
operated Hal Johnson Photography for thirty years until they both retired in
2003. She had previously worked for Joy Manufacturing Company.
Throughout Doris's adult life she was very active with numerous clubs,
church work, Claremont Bridal Shows, family and friends.
The surviving family besides her husband of Claremont, one daughter, Lanissa
Simoneau of Springfield, VT; two sons, Rick Burr and Bill Burr both of
Claremont; one step-daughter, Brenda Jennings of Franklin, GA; one step-son,
David Johnson of Derry; six grandchildren; one great-grandson and nieces,
nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by a stillborn sister, Sally Potter in 1928 and a foster
brother, Charles Henry Neil in 1994.
Friends may call at the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street on Wednesday
evening from 6 to 8 PM.
A Memorial Celebration of Life will be held Thursday morning, June 14th at
Ten O'clock at the First Congregational Church in Claremont with Rev. Dr.
Winn Alley, Pastor, officiating. Private interment services will be held
at a later date in Hope Hill Cemetery in North Charlestown.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Philanthropic
Education Organization, Chapter E, In Care Of Sandy Stevens, Treasurer, 653
Main Street, or the First Congregational Church, 72 Pleasant Street, both of
