Edith W. Owens, 90, of Winter Street in Claremont, died Friday afternoon,
December 7, 2007 at the Valley Regional Hospital after a brief illness.

She was a native and life long resident of Claremont, NH, born on October
22, 1917 the daughter of Ernest Eugene and Mary Louise (Eastman) White on a
small farm on the Green Mt. Road.  In 1927 her father purchased the Dole
Farm on Winter Street and they moved down there where her father sold milk
and had a milk route.

Mrs. Owens did the bookwork for her husband who leased equipment to the
State of New Hampshire Highway Department.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Claremont Senior
Center, the Claremont Historical Society, the D.A.R. was in the 4-H and
belonged to the youth extension club, the Ladies Home Dem Club and the
Local, Regional and National Button Clubs.   She and her husband had
collections of many things, including old tools, old cars and tractors,
firearms, most of them have been sold now.   She also was a collector of
buttons, books, canes and pictures.  She received the Marion P. Hammer Award
for her distinguished Philanthropy to the N.R.A. and the National Firearms
Museum, in Fairfax, VA, on May 23, 2005 in honor of her husband.

She was the widow of Eldon J. "EJ" Owens whom she married on September 9,
1939 and he died April 14, 2004.

The surviving family includes one brother, Maurice White of Claremont and
several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was pre-deceased by three sisters, Ruth E. Roy on April 22, 2000, Esther
L. Coleman on Jan. 10, 2004 and Edna Curtis on Sept. 13, 2006

and two brothers, Ernest C. White on Feb. 25, 1977 and Raymond F. White on
January 13, 2005; a niece, Cheryline Susan Neilsen on Oct. 24, 2002 and a
nephew, Stephen A. Roy on Feb. 3, 1997.

A memorial service will be held Thursday afternoon, December 13th at
One-Thirty in the First United Methodist Church with Pastor Shinhyung Ahn,
officiating.  Interment will be at a later date in Mt. View Cemetery.

A time of fellowship and sharing will be held in the church Howe Memorial
Hall after the services.

The Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street in Claremont is in charge of
arrangements.

The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her
memory to the Claremont Senior Center, 5 Acer Road, Claremont, NH 03743.
