Edward Alphonse Lavigne, 91, died Sunday afternoon, March 12, 2006 at the
Peaceful Harvest Home in Charlestown, NH.

He was born in Newport, NH on August 23, 1914 the son of Alphonse and Clara
(Henault) Lavigne.  He was raised in Newport and was a graduate of Towle
High School.  He worked at the International Shoe Company for eleven years
and for two years for Indian Motorcycles in Springfield, MA. 

Mr. Lavigne was a veteran of World War II having served in the US Army in
the 4th Armored Division in Europe.  He attained the rank of sergeant
serving as a radio operator. Eighteen months after his discharge he enlisted
in the Air Force and served twenty years and retired in 1963 as a TSgt.  He
was stationed in Alaska for six years and it was there he met and married
his wife, Aurelia E. Wackter on January 7, 1950. She was a government nurse.
Ed and his wife returned to her home state of Michigan and settled in Port
Huron.  He managed the Acme Paint Store for two years and worked at
Prestolite Wire for ten years.  He also ran his own custom made golf club
business.

In 1976 they retired to New Port Richey, FL where he continued  with his
golf club business.  He moved to Charlestown, NH in August of 2002 to be
closer to his family due to ill health.  He resided at Peaceful Harvest
where he enjoyed a wonderful extended family.

His passion was golfing which he did all over the world.  He was a member of
the Knights of Columbus, Moose, American Legion and the VFW all in Port
Richey, FL.  He also enjoyed traveling and casino gambling.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Aurelia on March 6, 1997 and a
brother, Dona S. Lavigne in July of 1985.

He was survived by one sister, Virginia Hawkins of Claremont; two nieces,
Lorraine Goyette of Claremont and Rhonda Smith of Charlestown; four great
nieces and nephews and six great-great nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street in Claremont
on Wednesday evening, March 15th from 6 to 7 PM

Rev. Father Shawn M. Therrien, Pastor of St Mary's Church will conduct a
Prayer Service at the Funeral Home at Seven O'clock.

Cremation will follow and his inurnment will be in Curlew Hills Memory
Gardens in Palm Harbor, FL.
