Edward James Mercier III, of White Hill Road in Claremont, NH died Tuesday
evening, November 27, 2007 at the Valley Regional Hospital.

He was a native and life long resident of Claremont born on June 8, 1935 the
son of Edward James and Ada (Thibodeau) Mercier II.

Mr. Mercier is a 1954 graduate of St. Mary School and was a veteran of the
United States Army.

He was a realtor for Lookers Realty for the past twenty four years,
previously had worked for Ralph's Supermarket and retired in 1985 from Don's
Market which he owned and operated for over twenty years.

He was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose and the Sullivan County 4-H
Foundation. 

He was the widower of Sandra (Kirn) Mercier whom he married on July 12, 1970
and she died February 13, 2007.

The surviving family includes three daughters; Valori M. Petrin of
Plainfield, Jody B. Race of West Unity, Tracy J. Mercier, two sons; Edward
James Mercier IV of Oakland, CA, Daniel J. Mercier, five grandsons; William
E. Race of West Unity, Zachary Petrin of Plainfield, Matthew Mercier, Justin
Mercier, Harrison Mercier all of Oakland, CA; two granddaughters, Shafer E.
Race of West Unity, Ashley Mercier, one brother; David Mercier of Alabama,
two sisters; Marilyn Trussell of Melbourne, FL, Maria Wright of Baltimore,
MD, one half brother; Milan Johnson, Jr., of Florida, one half sister, Susan
Johnson St. Pierre of Florida, nieces, nephews and cousins.  He was
pre-deceased step-father Milan Johnson, Sr.

There will be no public visiting hours.

Memorial services will be held Monday, December 3rd at Eleven O'clock in the
Stringer Funeral Home with J. Michael Sanborn, Pastor of the West Unity
Community United Methodist Church, officiating.

Interment will be private in Mt View Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests that donations may be made in his
memory to the Veterans Administration Hospital, 215 N. Main Street in White
River Junction, VT 05009 or the 4-H Foundation in Newport, NH
