Edwin Ashley Rice, Jr., 71, of Jonathan Lane, Bow, NH died Friday, February
2, 2007 at his residence. 

He was born in Springfield, VT on February 17, 1935, the son of Edwin Ashley
and Hazel Marguerite (Williams) Rice, Sr.

He had previously resided in Newport, NH and was a long-time resident of the
Old Claremont Road in Charlestown, NH.

Mr. Rice was a 20 year veteran of the US Navy having served as a Gunner's
First Mate and retired November 7, 1973.

Edwin was a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great-

grandfather.  He was an avid fisherman and sports enthusiast.  He cherished
each day he shared with his family and friends.  He was always ready with a
smile and a laugh; he was the heart and soul of a family who will miss him
dearly.

The surviving family includes his wife, Beryl A. (Sanderson) Rice of Unity
whom he married on June 24, 1956; his children, Edwin A. Rice III and spouse
Cherie of Claremont, Robert A. Rice of SC,  Pamela R. Ryan and spouse Ricky
of Bow, Beth A. LaFreniere and spouse Paul of Marlow, Tracie A. Allen and
spouse Dennis of Charlestown; a brother Neil E. Rice of Alaska; seventeen
grandchildren and nine great grand-children.

He was predeceased by his parents and a sister, Cassie E. Poisson.

Friends may call at the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street in Claremont
on Monday evening from 6 to 8 PM.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning, February 6th at Eleven
O'clock at the Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Winn Alley, Pastor of the First
Congregational Church, officiating.

Interment will be at a later date in the spring in Pine Crest Cemetery in
Charlestown.
