George Clifford Field, 89, of Summer Street in Newport, died Friday morning,
April 21, 2006 at The Clough Center in New London.

He was born in Hinsdale, NH on August 15, 1916 the son of Everett E. and
Eveline B. (Stewart) Field. He resided in Hinsdale for thirty-five years and
in St. Petersburg, FL for twenty-two years.

He was a veteran of World War II having served in the US Army.

Mr. Field retired in 1976 as a foreman with the Boston and Maine Railroad
where he worked for forty-one years.

He was an avid bowler, fan of the Boston Red Sox and loved to gamble in
Biloxi.  He was a member of the Holy Name Society of Saint Joseph's Catholic
Church in Hinsdale.

The Surviving family includes his wife, Catherine Edmee (Wojchick) Field of
Newport whom he married on June 21, 1941; one son, James Field and his wife,
Janice of Sunapee; one grandson, Duane Field; three grand-daughters, Cheri
White, Teresa Field and Beth Field; two great-grand-children, Morgan White
and Olivia Field; one sister, Dorothy Parenchuck of Richmond NH; one
brother, Donald Field of Jacksonville, FL; also nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was pre-deceased by one son, David John Field; two sisters, Rose Fate and
Florence Geso and two brothers, Richard Field and EverettField, Jr. and one
step-brother, Wendell Cook.

Friends may call at the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street in Claremont
on Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 PM where A Christian Wake Service will be
held at 7:30 PM with Rev. Father Richard St. Louis, Jr., Pastor of St
Patrick's Church in Newport, officiating.  Interment will be at a later date
in Hinsdale, NH.

The family suggest that donations may be made  in his memory to the charity
of ones choice.
