Gilbert V. Filion, 78, of Estabrook Circle in West Lebanon, NH,  died
Saturday afternoon, November 5, 2005 at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical
Center in Lebanon.

He was born in Claremont, NH on December 5, 1926 the son of Herman and Rose (Turcotte) Filion and resided at 3 Juniper Hill in Claremont for 34 years
and in West Lebanon for the past two years.

He was a veteran of World War II having served in the Pacific Theatre with
the US Navy.

Gilbert retired as an inspector and assemblyman in August of 1979 from the
Joy Manufacturing Company where he worked thirty-two years, four months,
fifteen days.

He spent hours playing games on the computer. He enjoyed watching the birds.
His faithful dogs, Chris and Grover were always at his side waiting for a
treat from his shirt pocket.  He enjoyed the time he spent in Florida and
enjoyed telling his grandchildren stories of his life and hobbies. 

The surviving family includes his wife, Pamela (Holt) Peavey Filion of West
Lebanon whom he married on May 24, 1968; a step-son, Jeffrey Peavey of
Lebanon; a daughter, Peggy Dizel of West Springfield, MA; grandchildren,
step-grandsons; one brother, Roger Filion of Claremont and a sister,
Jeannette Guastamachio, of Enfield, Connecticut also nieces and  nephews.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Patricia (Atkins) Filion who
died in 1965, one son, Raymond R. Filion in 1991, two brothers, Raymond
Filion in 1943 and Richard O. Filion in 1995
 
A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday at Eleven O'clock in the Stringer
Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street in Claremont with Rev. Father Stanley J.
Piwowar, Pastor of St Joseph Church, officiating.

Interment will follow in Union Cemetery in West Claremont.

Friends may call at the Funeral Home, on Wednesday morning, Nov. 9th from 10 to 11 AM prior to the services.

The family suggest that in lieu of flowers,  donations may be made be made
in his memory to Friends of Vets (Veterans), % Jim Newberry, Gilman Office
