Gloria Lorraine LaCouture Leonard, 82, of N. West Street in Charlestown, died peacefully after a long struggle on October 4, 2005 at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon. She was born in Lowell, MA on November 9, 1922 the daughter of Henry and Mary Jane (Carle) LaCouture. She attended Sight Saving School in MA before moving with her family to Raymond, NH. There was no such school for her in NH so she stayed home helping her parents take care of her siblings. She worked at a parachute factory in Lowell, MA during World War II. She loved her family and was always home when her children got home from school, all the years of their schooling. She enjoyed cross word puzzles, flowers, animals and especially the entertainment of seals. The surviving family includes her husband, Frank G, Leonard of Charlestown whom she married on March 17, 1945 and they celebrated their 60th anniversary this years; two daughters, Barbara Torelli and Francine Templeton both of Charlestown; two grandchildren, Catherine Torelli of Marlborough, NH and Christopher Torelli of Westbrook, CT; adopted grandchildren, Mellony, Pia, Nicole and Suzie; one great-grand-son, Tyler Torelli of Potsdam, NY; sisters, Jacqueline and her husband Richard Murphy of Sarasota, FL, Carmen and her husband, Frank Murphy of Mt Clemens, MI; one brother, Carle LaCouture and his wife, Nancy of Lumberton, NJ and several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her parents, sisters, Claire Merewether, Pauline Skalkeas, Florence Moisen and Theresa LaCouture. Friends may call at the Charlestown Memorial Chapel, 34 Main Street in Charlestown on Thursday evening, Oct. 6th from 5 to 7 PM. Rev. Father Michael E. Gendron, Pastor of St Catherine of Siena Church will conduct a prayer service on Thursday evening at 7 PM. Interment will be on Friday, Oct. 7th at Eleven O'clock in the Holbrook Cemetery in Candia, NH.
