Hazel Agnes Mann, 94, formerly of 50 Mann Court in Claremont, NH, died Wednesday morning, May 17, 2006 at the Sullivan County Health Care, after a short illness. She was born in Keene, NH on February 16, 1912 the daughter of Myron and Grace (Hall) Leslie. She grew up with the Henry Stickney family on their farm in Plymouth, NH and graduated from Plymouth High School class of 1931. Hazel was a top stitcher in the Claremont Shoe Shop for many years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Claremont; a long time member of the Claremont Garden Club where she won many ribbons for her prized flowers, arrangements and special displays; an honorary member of the Beagle Club; a member of the Claremont Rod and Gun Club and for many years a leader for Girl Scout and Brownie troops. Hazel was the widow of Harold E. Mann whom she married on October 20, 1933 in Claremont and they celebrated 55 years of marriage. He died April 22, 1989. The surviving family includes three children, one daughter, Eleanor R. Thompson of Newport; two sons, Charles E. Mann of Charlestown and Lloyd R. Mann of Claremont. She was grandmother to Dawn G. Thompson Holcombe of South Windsor, CT, Laura R. Thompson of Newport, Heather S. Mann Meeks of Cornish, Julie C. Mann Carpia of Claremont and Dathel E. Mann of Bolder, CO. Her great-grandchildren are, Linda K. Holcombe and Emily F. Holcombe of South Windsor, CT, Robert A. Carpia and Cayla M. Carpia of Claremont. There are no visiting hours. A graveside committal service will take place in Hope Hill Cemetery in North Charlestown on Monday afternoon, May 22nd at One-Thirty with Rev. Margaret Long, Pastor of the First United Methodist Church, officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Fiske Free Library, 108 Broad Street, Claremont, NH 03743. This will be used to purchase both adult and children's books in the areas of special interest to Hazel, such as gardening, birds, art, quilting, nature, fishing, sewing and crocheting. |
