James Lee Leslie, Sr., 64, of Myrtle Street in Claremont, died Friday evening, January 6, 2006 at the Valley Regional Hospital, surrounded by his family, after a long courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Newport, NH on October 4, 1941 the son of Walter J. and June E. (Gamash) Leslie. He lived in Claremont since November and had previously resided in Lempster for the past twenty-five years. He was a Vietnam veteran having served seventeen years in the US Army, 82nd Airborne and was discharged from the reserves as a Sergeant. Mr. Leslie was employed at Joy Manufacturing Company for forty years as a welder and maintenance man. He enjoyed fishing, working in his garage fixing things, woodworking, fly tying and hunting. He also lent a hand wherever and whenever he could to help people. The surviving family includes his wife, Susan Ann (LaClair) Leslie of Claremont whom he married on May 17, 1980; three sons, James L. Leslie, Jr. of Charlestown, David Leslie of Columbia, NH and Robert Leslie of Claremont; three daughters, Angela Wilkins of Claremont, Tina Hanson of N. Walpole and Michelle Gove of Newport; eleven grandchildren, Kayla Hanson (his fishing buddy), Jordan Boutwell, Zachary Hanson, Sarah LaClair, Crystal Currier, Tiffany Osgood, Jonathan Osgood, Katrina Leslie, Jason Cutts, Nicholas Cutts and Amanda Leslie; six great-grandchildren, Annika Ratcliffe,Katelyn LaClair, Kyle Currier, Ashlyn Cutts, Madison Cutts and Jacob Barrett; one brother, Ronald Leslie of Croydon; one sister, Linda Reed of Newport; five sisters-in-laws: four brothers-in-laws; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Leslie in Aug. of 2005. A time of fellowship and sharing will be held January 14th at One PM at the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge in Claremont. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, donations may by made in his memory to his wife, Susan Leslie, 47 Myrtle Street, Apt. #1, Claremont, NH 03743. |
