Jennie Arliss Ells, 84, of Sullivan County Health Care, formerly of 243
Broad Street in Claremont, died June 16, 2007 at the Sullivan County Health
Care.
She was born in Acworth, NH on June 11, 1922 the daughter of Julius W. and
Lillian M. (Kemp) Pitkin, lived in Claremont since 1991 and previously in
Charlestown and Alstead.
Jennie was employed at Whitney-Blake in Bellows Falls, VT for ten and half
years and later took in foster children for fifteen years at her home.
She was a member of the Charlestown Memorial VFW Post # 8497, the AARP and
the Marion Philips Association.
Jennie enjoyed knitting, crocheting and crafts.
She was the widow of Clarence N. Ells, Sr. whom she married on August 25,
1939 and he died Feb. 3, 1983.
The surviving family includes one daughter, Eloise Hall of Claremont; three
sons, Clarence Ells, Jr. and his wife, Donna of Kempner, TX, William Ells
and his wife, Michalea of Bloomfield, IA and Roger Ells and his wife, Wanda
of Newport, MI; twelve grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren; two
sisters, Elizabeth Royce and her husband, Gordon of Monson, MA and Rachel
Ames and her husband Lowell of Somersville, CT; brother-in-law, Clifford
Knight and nieces, nephews.
She was pre-deceased by one son, James Ells on Dec. 23, 2001; four sisters,
Margaret Knight and her husband Olney, Marion Taylor and her husband Joseph,
Lillian Hill and her husband Neil and Dorothy Knight; one brother, Julius W.
Pitkin, Jr. at the age of 15.
Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon, June 30th at One O'clock
in the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street, in Claremont with Priscilla
Hull, officiating.
Interment will follow in Pine Crest Cemetery in Charlestown.
