John Albert Paradis, 88, of Maple Avenue, Claremont died Saturday, March 19, 2005 at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born in Newport, VT on March 23, 1916 the son of Alphonse and Catherine (Decoteau) Paradis and was a near life-long resident of Claremont. He was a veteran of WWII having served in the Navy SeaBee's. Mr. Paradis was employed as a maintenance supervisor at the Old Sullivan and Joy Manufacturing Co. for thirty-seven and a half years and retired in 1978. He previously worked for Goodyear and Charles Abbot Electrical Contractor. He was a communicant of St. Mary Church, a member of the Veterans of Foreign War Post 808 and the American Legion Post 29. The family includes his wife, Lena (Maiola) Paradis of Claremont, whom he married on September 5, 1938; one son, Robert J. Paradis and his wife Dorothy of Peculiar, MO; one daughter, Katherine Luopa and her husband Kenneth of Troy, NH; six grandchildren, John Luopa, Mark Luopa, Tim Luopa, Jenny Muraski, Lance Paradis and Theresa Greer; 17 great-grandchildren; one brother, Oscar Paradis of Riverside, CA; nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call at the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street, Claremont on Monday evening from 5 to 8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday morning, March 22nd, at eleven o'clock in St. Mary's Church. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.
